About this session

What might our public spaces make possible if we made more room for play? In the upcoming Value Talk, Public Spaces, Play and Possibilities, we will explore how play can spark curiosity, bring people together and make our public spaces more welcoming for everyone. From art and architecture to the everyday places we share, we’ll consider how design can invite us to explore and connect with our surroundings and with one another. How can a familiar place invite an unexpected encounter? What can children’s ways of seeing and using space teach us? And how can designers create opportunities for people of different ages, abilities and backgrounds to join in? Through projects, ideas and experiences, our speakers will share how they approach these questions in practice. We’ll explore the processes and materials that open up possibilities for play, and what it takes to bring those possibilities to life.
