This presentation explores how adaptive systems engineering approaches can address challenges in large-scale acquisition programs. Drawing on systems thinking, cybernetics, and systems dynamics research, Peter de Haan introduces a Morphological Framework designed to help organisations engage with uncertainty, emergence and adaptation in complex environments, using US naval acquisition as a case study.
Learning Outcomes
Attendees will learn how complexity affects large-scale defence and naval acquisition programs, how a morphological framework can engage with uncertainty and changing conditions, how to evaluate assumptions and constraints within complex systems, and how adaptive systems engineering compares with traditional acquisition models.
