About the Awards for Planning Excellence Program

Participating in the Awards is an opportunity to inspire others, share achievements, and showcase meaningful work planners do. For organisations, the Awards provide public recognition for achievements and showcase leading practice across planning disciplines and sectors. The journey begins with State and Territory Awards, where nominees are selected for meaningful contributions. State winners advance to National Awards held in May, presented at Planning Congress.

Award Categories

Climate Change & Resilience, Community Wellbeing & Diversity, Great Place, Improving Planning Processes, Strategic Planning Project, Planning Research, Planning with Country, Stakeholder Engagement, Technology & Digital Innovation, Tertiary Student Project, Emerging Planner of the Year.

Nomination Process

National Award nominees come from winners of State Awards for Planning Excellence Program. To enter State Awards, download your Division's Nomination Guidelines to determine category and required forms. Nomination Guidelines and walk-through videos are available on your Division's awards webpage.
